Assistance with seat removal RESOLVED

Post by 4uall »

I am replacing the carpet and I thought I would be able to simply remove the seats however, as we know not everything is simple with our Fiats. I followed these instructions http://www.ehow.com/how_6474731_remove- ... -seat.html I was able to get the front hex bolts off with no issues however, I have no idea how to access the rear ones. I am also seeing 4 11/16 nuts (one on each corner) not able to budge them so they are soaking in wd40. Any help would be greatly appreciated and photos are always welcome & encouraged.

You should be able to access the rear ones by sliding the seat all the way forward and then tilting the seatback forward.
However, there some rollers inside the seat tracks, if these become dislodged then they can limit seat travel. Try lubing the seat rails real well, mostly on the inside.

Issue Resolved! There was some confusion with the instructions vs what I was able to see & do at the start. I was able to access the front torx bolts without even trying (scratches head) yet all other instructions/advice said I should be accessing the rear ones first. Trouble was that I was not able to bring the seat forward enough to even see them

So I took off the front ones pulled the base (foam/vinyl) back took my light and had a look.........saw nothing

By this time I had had enough

I said "screw it, I'm going for it" and I proceeded to move the seat back and forth each time with ever increasing force until by the fourth try I saw the rear bolts exposed

The whole time I was concerned about not wanting to snap the bolts when what I should have been thinking is I have 4 mnths to get any replacement parts that I break

Goodnight/morning
