Door won't close

Post by RRoller123 »

For some reason the door latch has gotten caught in the down (closed) position, and no amount of key/handle jiggering/combination seems to be able to release it. Anyone know what is done about this? I guess I have to take the door panel off and get at the lock mechanism from the inside to release it?

You can move the latch back to the open position while pushing in
the button or pulling up on the door handle.

No, that's the problem, no amount of jiggering seems to get that thing back to the open position. I guess I gotta take the door apart.

Well, it took a short kabuki dance, the singing of my favorite hymn, reciting a few Psalms, a few choice unprintable words for the latch, and the gremlins left the building with Elvis and it is now free. I definitely have to get the door panel off and check the innards out though, the inside handle is really stiff. But at least I can now close the door and get the car over to the upholsterer for a new top before Winter. {:^)
