Auxiliary Electric Fuel Pump

Post by opus10583 »

Hi,

Among the winter projects I'm considering is adding a manually switched electric pump to my '78; seems easier and cheaper to install than a new starter motor...

Has anyone here done this, have any tips or suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Opus, ping Manoa Matt. He runs a mechanical fuel pump but also has a manually switched electric fuel pump on the same car. Matt primes his engine with the electric then switches it off and lets the mechanical do the work.

Amazon has this low pressure Carter Fuel Pump on sale from from time to time for under $40. I have one as a backup to the ancient electric pump mounted in my trunk.

Hi Matt,

I'm a bit of a details guy...

What sort of pump, where'd you mount it, how'd you mount it, fittings, filter before the pump, switch, relay, wiring ???

And then; what's this about the DFEV not having a fuel return fitting? ...The DFEV or the EMPI?

Thanks!
