77 carb question

Post by HuntingtonSpider »

My girlfriend's brother is going to give me a hand trying to get the carbureor situation taken care of in the new 77. He asked me to find out what the specific size of the idle jets are for the carb As well as the timing correction. Being a relative rube I am unsure of the answers and any help is appreciated.

You'll have to pull them out and have a look, with a 30+ year old car, there's no guarantee they'll be original spec.

The idle jet is part of the idle solenoid on a '77. You can adjust the idle mixture with the mixture screw at the bottom of the carb.

The stock timing figure at idle is 0 degrees, but that was for emissions. A stock low compression engine will run a lot better with 10 degrees advance at idle.
