Tuning a toilet.

Post by Fiatmonkey »

So I was changed out the toilet in my secondary bathroom.

It hit me like a sack of bricks. You can't dent ceramic you can only chip it or break it. Therefore, it stands to confirm a ceramic coated header can be dented but where the dent occurs the ceramic plating will be broken off. So, that would mean any ceramic plated item that gets to my house and is dented....... Was actually dented at or most likely before the ceramic coaters (due to how ceramic coating is applied). So to summarize if my toilet is dented the manufacturer did it.

The monkey learned some compound chemical structures today.

Pretty sure this post will get me banned.

The "ceramic" coating on exhaust headers is not of the same composition as your toilet.

If you Google the subject, you will find several posts detailing the procedure for denting a coated header to clear an obstruction, or removing said dents.

I read a method on a forum of some sort, think it was about bikes, but the fellow plugged an end and used water and then put the header in the freezer. He repeted several times and got it close. Another was drilling a small hole on the opposite side and gently tapping it out and then welding the hole closed. Don't know how welding will affect the coating though.
