You can leave everything on the intake blocked off. The large port in the center area you can use for the brake booster vacuum. In the second picture, that is the crankcase ventilation trap, from that unit a hose goes up to your original air cleaner, but with a 32/36 conversion you can get a kit that comes with the new air cleaner assembly to attach it to that. At any rate, you don't want to plug up the crankcase vent.

Sorry, forgot to mention that thermoswitch on the bottom of the manifold. You can just leave that, or remove it and plug it with a M16x1.50 plug. No wires need to go to it, and it does no harm just leaving it there. If you do remove it to plug, use thread sealant to make sure there is no vacuum leaks around the plug.

I believe that goes right through to the other side. Not an issue I think to leave it. If you have a FI ex manifold the hole is exposed that side as well. I saw this earlier this year helping Zach put a single plane and 34 dmsa on his 79.

so what u are saying is that > the hole expose does not mean anything? and to go ahead and bolt up that intake and nothing will cover that hole or gasket? makes no sense, can some one show me a photo of this

It Depends on which exhaust manifold you are using. if you have a stock carb 79/80 exhaust manifold with an an extra tube connected to the front of the motor then you have to seal that tube.

Some people cut the tub and weld it shut. I have seen some tubes crimped shut.

Can you take a photo of your exhaust manifold near the water pump?

that is the crossover port for the egr. If you still have the 79 exhaust manifold, you will need to plug that hole or remove the tube from the exhaust side
