Occasional Misfire

Post by ylbill »

Hi, I recently posted an uneven idle post and thanks for the help. As I started working on correcting the issue I realized that it is more of an occasional misfire about every 1 to 3 seconds. Not sure if the same suggestions would apply to correcting this issue, so I thought I would try a new post. Thanks again for any replies. I'd be lost without this forum! I don't have lots of repair knowledge, but willing to try if I get some kind of direction.

sounds like you have a very small intake leak. hard to chase down a leak that small. had that issue with a BMW 2800. was able to cure it by retorquing the carbs to the intake manifold.

Intake leak is always there, not every one to three seconds.

Does it run good on the road, just "misses" at idle??
How bad is the "miss"?? Is it worth chasing?? What RPM does it idle at??

If it's FI, Gently wiggle the inj wiring connectors with engine running at see if they create a change.

Just misses at idle, which hovers around 1000 rpm. It probably isn't worth chasing. It is FI, so I'll check that as soon as a get a chance. Thanks for the suggestions.
