The issue i had with my top is it put wear on the rag top where is touches along the back. I started taking the rag top off during the winter.

You kidding me? Take my baby to a car wash? Not a chance. The reality is that I live in California and rarely if ever drive the car on a day when a hard top would even be useful. I spent hours diagnosing and fixing my windshield wipers last year, realizing I really never drive the car in the rain anyway. But just in case....narfire wrote:Very nicely done, good simple ideas that work.
..... now have you taken it to a car wash for the ultimate test

It was more about wanting to have it, if I ever wanted/needed to use one. I know, kind of lame, but when you've got the itch for a project, hard to stop scratching.

I have the same top with chrome mouldings all original, and then one day someone for some reason broke the big window in the back, when I was searching for a reasonable priced glass replacement I realized how heavy the glass was, and how expensive it was, so I was thinking doing lexan window. Anyway, I made some modification on the top, added 2 pillars, and install the windows, I like this look better. BTW, for someone's talking about using Acrylic Sheet, no I don't think you can, it will crack.

lexan would be a suitable replacement, i have one of those tops as well, granted my glass is still good. im in the process of removing the covering and smooting the fiberglass for paint

A friend of mine in Oklahoma broke the rear window, so he had a plastics shop make one. They even bent it for him, so he just had to install it.
