WEBER 34 ADF 250 QUERY

Post by ch33kster »

Hi,

Ive just bought a 34 ADF 250 off Ebay, unaware that it was listed without the (1) Accelerator Pump Accumulator and the (2) Power Bypass Circuit Actuator.

From what I have read and seen, this is a race spec. carb. the (1) Accelerator Pump has a pipe running to the (3) "Throttle Nudger" which is in the base of the carb which leads into the secondary throat under the butterfly.

Can I blank these ports off and make it run like a 32 ADF?

By the way my car is a 1400 124 AS Spider.

Cheers, Charles

Although I'm not 100% certain, I believe #1 and #2 to be emissions devices. #3 looks to be a vacuum source, if its below the throttle plate its "manifold vacuum", if its above the throttle plate its "ported vacuum".

The accelerator pump is on the right side of the carb in the picture. The actuating arm can just be seen below #2. The arm is steel with a metal roller at the end.

The thing I find strange: Those parts do not exist on any other 34ADF or 32ADFA that I've seen, or seen pictures of. Can you show more pictures of the carb from different angles?

Hi, johndemar that is exactly like the one I have. Rather a big carb. Have you had it on your 124? Do you have any tips/tricks/advice you could give me? Cheers.

I haven't had it on yet, but it will bolt right up to an 1800 manifold. I don't believe any of the ports I have capped are necessary.
I'm still trying to convert the throttle shaft spring retainer I currently have on the 32ADFA to the 34. The primary throttle shaft isn't quite long enough to accommodate it, so I'm having a local machine shop fabricate and extension for it.

Yausers! Thanks for your response guys.

I presume the 34 ADF on a 1800 single plane manifold will be ok on my 1400 and add some pepper to its overall performance and running costs compared to my original DHSA?

Got the missing parts coming from the seller.

What's ports do you recommend I plug? Do I need the Idle Solenoid? Here in the UK there isn't any strict 'state' emission regulations.

The carb will have a manual choke.

Cheers again!
