Bosch Fuel Filter - FI only?

I just received some parts from Bruce's parts bin (http://www.fiatparts.com) and it included a Bosch inline fuel filter (part number 0 450 905 030). He didn't have one on his site but I asked if he had one available.

Based on some research, it seems this fuel filter is for fuel injected cars only, not my '79 Spider with a carb. But this guy knows Fiats really well and knew my car was a '79, so I'm thinking maybe I could use it too? I haven't verified the input and output fittings but even if they fit, doesn't necessarily mean I should be using it if it's meant for FI cars. Since it's almost midnight for him, thought I'd ask here and change the filter tomorrow if it's compatible.

you want the one with two regular ends"nipples"both ends are hose and clamps
no plastic clips or fancy snaps

Well this one does have nipples on both ends:



But if the filter is meant for fuel injection, then shouldn't it be designed for higher pressures? I guess I'm just wondering if my fuel pump will have issues pumping fuel through it.

I could always experiment, but then I can't return it.

it would work and has a pretty large capacity compared to the little carb filters

And the filters made for FI systems typically are made to filter out smaller sized particles than the standard filtes we use. Another alternative to the Bosch filter is the in-line filter made for the 1973 Datsun Z240. This is what I have used for years on motors fitted with IDFs, and it all but eliminates issues wth dirt clogged idle jets. I'm sure the Bosch filter will do the same.
