SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
So last night the wife and I took the spider to a family fish fry and on the way over all I heard was SLOW DOWN. Every time I would get close to 50 mph she would freak. Does anyone else have this problem? I told her when we got home we would take no more road trips together in the spider. I guess because it sits closer to the ground than her Yukon she just thinks we are flying. I just cannot stand to drive 20 mph under the speed limit. What is a man to do? Dennis

Re: SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
Get a 1000 watt amp and every time you ride in the car, crank it up. Put a hidden control button in for the radio and tell her you can't turn it off and let her try.
OR
Get a larger exhaust and take off your cat and resonator. Same principal.

Brady , I like the way you think, Im already working on the tunes .
Mick, I think that would be last last time she would get in if I did that. I will show it it to her and tell her how lucky she is. BTW My car does drive and handle very well. Dennis

I like that idea too. Just put a mini fake camera on the dash and tell her it's recording or a real one so you can show your friends.

Re: SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
Prozac!!!
My heart goes out to you. We just made a 350 mile round trip in the Spider at 65 mph all the way. I showed my wife how the car handled at 70 mph. Her reaction was "it rides nice at 70". For reference, she normally drives a minivan.
So, Prozac is my advice....or better yet....take her for many, many shorter rides at lower speeds. Each time, drive about 5 mph faster than the prior drive and ease her into the feeling of riding in a smaller car. Start with some slower speed winding roads and progress to short periods of slightly higher speeds to instill confidence in you and the car. It may take some time to get her accustomed to the ride of a sports car and she may NEVER really like it, but she'll get used to it. Riding with the top down helps since the ride doesn't sound as "busy" as it does with the top up. It's a little easier to be distracted by the sites over the ride.
Eventually, the SUV will feel like the tank that it is. Oh yes, I forgot....and crank the music just like everyone else said but after giving her the Prozac!

Betcha if she were to drive the Spider, it would turn her frown upside down

Re: SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
As always, lots of exelent advice. I will take in all of it and customize a solution. I told her when we got home that was the last road trip together in the spider. She can just follow me in her Yucon. Dennis

I really married the wrong girl ! 16 yrs ago when she told me she had never left the state of Michigan. I thiought WOW really. this should be great. she will want to travel all over. to get tought up on all her lost adventures. HELL no. a rear later after the papers to eveything I own where signed I find out the truth she hate riding in a car boats even worse and she is scared of flying. and will not even look at a mtorcycle and is teaching her self to hate sex. lol so there are my reasons to LEAVE her HOME !
Re: SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
My tenth anniversary is in January and I gotta say I am a happy man! That stinks that your ladies do not like your ride. I too would think if you get her to drive it then she would love it. Her vehicle could have a "problem" and need to go into the shop leaving only the Fiat for her to drive for 2 or 3 days and that should put the issue to rest. If they have a good cart track in your area let her drive those a bit as well. Once she learns you can spin out and survive she might not be so afraid. Or you could just drive worse the more she complains but that probably won't work out all that well. Or you could ride "female dog" and complain while she drives or tell her it turns you on, you know whatever works.
Good luck,
Good luck,
Re: SLOW DOWN!!!!!!
OR she gets the idea all she has to do is total your car as your letting her drive it and she totally wins. But I guess that's the chance you have to decide whether to take or not. To bad she didn't need a rental car and the only one you could find her was a spider. Make sure she gets insurance!
