Have you tried to manually move the clutch fork or checked to see that it does not have a bend in it?

I installed my spare clutch cable yesterday and the problem persists. I had my wife push the clutch pedal while I checked things out. The firewall is solid and the clutch fork is moving outside the bell housing. Now this leads to the more difficult task, is there anyway to check to see that the clutch fork is properly seated and functioning (not bent or cracked) without dropping the entire tranny?

yes pull off the boot on the tranz at the cluch
use a flashlight and a mirror to see if the fork is on the pivot stud or bent

arrg... I was afraid of that. I'll have a look today or tomorrow and provide an update. Should the clutch fork be bent or off of the pivot stud, I assume the tranny will need to come out? Is this a difficult task in ones driveway or is it worth it to bring the car to a garage with a hoist?

no just get it set back in place,have the boot loose,adjust cable then fix boot.joe

Turns out that the problem was a broken retaining clip on the clutch fork.
