after scrubbing with a wire brush i used the permatex rust treatment on the RUST,
it converts the rust to primer /sealed.i used a hose to blow it in under the sill.wait 24hours and paint "brush looks like crap"
but its hard to spray just 9 inches of spotty post rust areas.and this is coverd by the trim :|

as the mounting screws started the rust and i didnt catch it untill now, i felt it "better to try stoping it now rather then wait for money enuff to repaint .joe

How did you like that stuff? Does it do the job pretty well?

That looks like a pint in your picture, how much does that cover?

Well, an update: I bought myself a 32 oz bottle and went to town. As i was working the driver's side floor, I knocked the bottle over on the garage floor  :x  I managed to scrape it up, but I had to use it right away, because i would be no good on the shelf.

Anyway, I did two coats on the entire trunk, some spots on the fenders, and the entire driver's side floor board. I still have half the bottle left (for those of you reading who may also want to try it).

I started by using a rag to spread it around, but you get a lot of waste. A good technique for hard to reach places is to pour a small puddle, then use an air hose to push it around like an air-brush. Although for the open areas, I found that a small paintbrush results in the least amount of waste, the most even coverage (but requiring two coats) and the brush cleans up easily with water.

It worked great! Now all that was once rust is just black.

good give it a week and tap areas to see if you can get any more rust up and off
then retreat the spots

you might want to pull the sill cover off and have a look underneath, that where the structural part of the sill is.
