Automatic Trans Rear seal leak? Hard to replace?
Automatic Trans Rear seal leak? Hard to replace?
Anyone know how hard it is to replace the rear main seal on the automatic trans of a spider. I remember when I bought my car, the PO did say the rear seal has a leak. Now that I've been driving the car I noticed a good amount of trans fluid under the car. A while ago I threw some stop leak in and it seemed to be better but recently when i had the front of the car jacked up, I noticed when I came back in the morning the floor would have trans fluid on it. Is this something a home mechanic without a lift can do or better left to a shop? How much money would a shop charge you think? Thanks.

the seal isnt expensive
undo the 4 bolts for the driveshaft and 2 at the berring, and pull off the tranz
'
pry out the seal with a screwdriver
tap in a new one"flush" and put it all back together, top off the fluid.joe
