32/36 install
32/36 install
Starting installing a Weber DFEV today. My one question at this point is how do I hook up the plumbing for the lunchbox air cleaner?

Re: 32/36 install
Yep. I see how that goes. What I need to know about are the breather hoses that go from the center of the engine into the stock air cleaner and the one from the lower engine. Do I loop two of them together and connect the third to the new air cleaner? Or?

Re: 32/36 install
At this point, I've just plugged the lines that are unused.
Wondering where to get/what to get to connect the existing lower hose and the smaller fitting of the air cleaner as well as what I do with the vents on top.

Re: 32/36 install
I also share the same question about where to connect the vacuum to my new 32/36 DFEV carb. I know where to connect the crankcase breather hose but not the vacuum line -- unless I don't need it as I have the Computronics electronic ignition system. Does the DFEV carb need a vacuum connection? I can't find the answer on Bradley Artigue's site -- that is NOT to say it isn't there but only that I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.124JOE wrote:have you ever been here http://www.artigue.com

Re: 32/36 install
OK, I got ahold of some service manual diagrams. It looks to me like the ones on top are reed valves. So should I remove these and replace with a plug?
Don't see a PVC filter in the CCV factory diagrams. After the flame arrestor in the hose, it goes directly in the cleaner, as it also does in my new set-up.
Right now everything that was fitted into the old carb is merely plugged. Is this acceptable or do I need to remove everything that these hoses connect to? And if this is the way to go, is there anything I need to leave in place since I am keeping the old intake until I have a bit more wrenching time?

Re: 32/36 install
yes reedvalves plug them
no there is no pcv.-it goes directly in the cleaner, as it also does in my new set-up.-it looks like it goes into a port
on the topend of your carb
-Right now everything that was fitted into the old carb is merely plugged.-do you have vacume secondarys or mecanical?
mecanical doesnt need a vacume,a vacume controled seconary wont open unless it gets vacume at higher rpms.joe

Re: 32/36 install
Have a question about setting base line settings. I see the mixture screw no problem, but when I look at the carb it looks to me that the one above the mixture screw and to the right appears to be the fast idle. Then the screw at the rear of the carb is the idle speed screw? This doesn't quite match up with the tuning guide description of the idle speed screw as that screw on my carb rests on the carb body. The description in the tuning guide says it rests on the throttle stop lever. Am I missing something? Do I have it backwards on which screw is which?

The follow link illustrates my question on the fast idle/idle speed screw.
