OK, I messed up. My dad told me that I needed to bench mark the distributer and set top dead center on #4.
I bench marked the distributer but forgot to turn the engine to top dead center. I think I can remember where the rotor button position was. How can I get the engine to top dead center and rotor on #4 to be sure its right?
Help! don't want to call dad and tell him...

put the car in 4th push the car forward untill the timming mark on the crank is at the first line nearest the ground drivers side look at the cams to see if your on the right marks youll see cams on there mark crank on its mark.
then pull the dis and replace so the rotor is at #4
then pull the dis and replace so the rotor is at #4

Re: Replacing Distributer
this is a bracket they used in factory and is not anywere to be found.
it has pins set to the holes and the mark is at #1 and 4 at the same time.
you can feel for the groove in the crank.the higher flat spot has the mark
but the aux oil gear is most important "it has a hole"to be placed at 1oclock
i set it all up and stand on the drivers side and push the tesion pully with my left hand
while slipping the belt on"halfway on the exh cam and lastly onthe intake"with my right.
you must loosen the tension pully first.
and its not easy to change the belt without pulling of the crank pully but it can be done.as i do it
