Head gasket crush thickness?

Post by 131 »

The Ajusa head gasket that Mark sells on Ebay is 1.5mm thick. Does anyone know the thickness after fitting, ie: what thickness does it crush too?

I am not familiar with that brand of gasket but in my experience most head gaskets crush about 0.008" ~(0.2mm) thinner than before they are installed.

Thanks Jason,
I assumed 0.5mm and my calculations gave me a static compression ratio of 10.6:1, so that'll come down a tad when I crunch the numbers again.

Cheers,

Mick.

After crunching the numbers again I've got a static compression ratio of 10.3:1 and with the inlet cam I'm using I get a dynamic compression ratio of about 9.3:1. So it should run alright, but it doesn't leave me much room for boost!
