32adf= 3 or 2 automatic drip frequency

ok i got a 78 with the 32adfa which means 3 or 2 automatic drip frequency auto-mobilia right-- ha ha

so the primary venturi has a drip about every 3-2 sec.

i done rebuilt the entire carb-twice==and it still drips--there are no gaskets on the venturi and the air emulsion tubes are seated, all the ports are clean, (blown air thru them) , float is adj properly , idle mixture screw is clearn with new o ring== i did think maybe the thottle shafts leak so i sprayed wd-40 around them and no difference..

anybody else got this problem==any solutions??

turn the idle screw back untill it stops the drip

by "back" you mean clock wise (leaning out ) or counter clock wise (richen up)????

um counter clockwise LEAN OUT the idle so lower the idle screw slowly while watching the drip

wow - are your saying to reduce the idle speed

or change the idle mixture

drip drip is coming from the main jet not the idle spray circut

They drip from the venturis when the throttle plate is too far open. Does it idle well, around 700rpm with the mix screw about 2 turns out??
If it does not idle well, and you have the idle speed screw turned in too far, yes it will drip.

i thought this also-- too much vac getting to the (because primary thottle plate open too much) venturi will pull the gas through it == will reduce idle speed and adj mix screw. --

kinda thought it was that - a year ago i had the sec venturi do the same and i backed out the flat head set screw that acts like a stop for the sec throttle plate..... anybody know what the spec is for the seconday throttle stop screw is--- could this be affecting the primary idle speed -hence me cranking up the primary idle speed screw due to the seconday throttle plate not being held open at all????

if you start running your secondary as a main youll go through alot of gas joe

i didn't mean to say run as the primary but just was wondering what that screw was meant to do as far as holding open the secondary plate and to how much or is it just to take up any slack in throttle response??? is there a proper gap for the secondary plate to be held open or just to have it right at the "ready" when the throttle pulls open???

i guess i getting better--

backed off the idle speed to barely running

increased secondary stop screw to just barely making a difference at idle that back off a little

adj mix screw to highest rpm

added a little more idle speed
adj mix screw again

no drips idles at 1000rpm steady as a rock-- turn headlights on rpm drops about 200 rpm and when switched off headlights rpm returns to 1K.. i know 1K is high idle but when the cooling fan and headlights and windshield wipers and radio are on the alt pulls down rpm and i don't like stalling in the middle of left turns on the hiway

i'm happy-- now gotta fix my 4 month ignition coil life span problem
