manifold repair

Post by mik »

Started my '69 124AS. Quite a bit of smoke right in the middle where the manifold meets the engine. Seems like I can see very little oil leaking causing the smoke. How difficult is it to take off the manifold and replace the gasket and what type of tools will I need to do the job, or would you suggest I bring it into the shop and have them do it. Trying to do as much as I can myself. Thanks, Mik

oil is NOT leaking from ether one.
oil is in the top end and bottom end.
pick a diferent gasket for an oil leak.joe

on the exhaust side, it's probably one or both of the upper studs that hold the manifold to the head. Those have to be tight and it's best to use a thread sealer too. The cam housing could be leaking also

It is on the exhaust side. I did notice around the thread of the front bolt some potential oil leak. but there is also a spot where the manifold meets the engine block that seems to be seeping. Thanks for all the feedback

the leak on the exhaust manifold is in the center, above a bolt, should I just attempt to tighten them or should I assume it is the gasket? thanks mike
