what could cause a slight viberation at 70 mph. 69 it smooth, 71 is smooth, and no matter what speed before 70 or after 70 it smooth , steers straight, no tire or front end issuse
it a 72 with 2L
im thinking the drive shaft has something to do with it ? or could it be in the tranny, 4th gear does it. 5th too

Re: VIBERATION
To be a vibration it has to be something spinning. Suspension parts don't spin. Tires and drivelines do, as does the crank. Shafts in tranny spin, but would be really weird to have a vibration from there unless teeth missing or something that would create awful noises.
Most all high speed vibrations are tire related. Driveline vibrations, since it spins about 3times faster that tires, show up at slower speeds. If it does same in 4th or 5th gear at 70mph you can rule out crank.
If it was me I would just not drive 70mph.

Re: VIBERATION
As magicwrench said, usually a rotating part...but tie rod ends and bj;s can cause vibration, also if your toe is out, it can cause a shuddering @ speed. Good luck, sometimes they are hard to find.

Re: VIBERATION
do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel, in the shifter or in your seat?

Re: VIBERATION
I had a vibration in a narrow range of speed (78 - 80 mph) for years that I could never get rid of until I had the drive shaft ballanced. I knew it was the rear part of the car all along, but didn't know exactly what. It's smooth as silk now, following the Driveshaft balance.

Where do you take the drive shaft to get it balanced?ventura ace wrote:I had a vibration in a narrow range of speed (78 - 80 mph) for years that I could never get rid of until I had the drive shaft ballanced. Re: VIBERATION
Check unis, centre bearing and drive donut for play/wear before you run off to get the driveshaft balanced. No use trying to balance something that has worn components. If there are worn unis etc. it may not need balancing anyway.

Re: VIBERATION
I took it to a drive shaft shop in Oxnard, CA, that farmed it out to their sister store in Garden Grove, CA, since they didn't have the proper fittings to connect to it.azygoustoyou wrote:Where do you take the drive shaft to get it balanced?ventura ace wrote:I had a vibration in a narrow range of speed (78 - 80 mph) for years that I could never get rid of until I had the drive shaft ballanced.
