Bearings

Post by Divers »

A little frustrated.....

Trying to remove the races from my front hub assembly.

1. Cannot get the inner grease seal out. How to get it out without damage since I have to resuse it?
2. How freakin hard do I have to hit the races to break them free.

Taking deeeeeep breath and still having fun!

You should replace them if your taking them out.

I am replacing everything but the grease seal ( and that looks like I have to replace also). Question still stands is how?

the races will need to be driven out, by nature they have to be a tight fit. Seals are hard to remove without damaging them, but it can be done with care and a long punch

interesting little video. makes it look soooo easy. i'm not a great fan of using a grift to install. too hard to get it straight. i prefer to use a short piece of 2x4. place it over the race or seal and strike the center lightly with a heavy hammer. watch it visually to make sure it is going in straight. be smart and not cheap. replace those seals.

Got the inner race in ok. The outer race is being stubborn! Will give it a little more force today. Tried finding the grease seal at autocambi and IAP....cannot seem to locate them? Anyone have a lead??
