Noisy Fuel Pump

I'm thinking mine needs to be replaced, if for no other reason than it is LOUD!

I've used my iPhone to make a recording of it. You will hear me fumbling around with the keys and trying to start the car. lol

It is mounted near the tank or in the engine bay?

Mine is in the trunk and isn't nearly that loud. However, in the engine bay it was noticeable.

Fuel injected, correct? Shouldn't be that loud. Does the car run satisfactorily? It almost sounds like it's starved for fuel. Might be crud in the line, only way to find out is to take it apart.

It is FI. I leave the key on a bit before trying to turn it over. Otherwise, it takes a moments to start. For the rest of the day, it starts right up just fine.

It does sound loud. However, it shouldn't run when you just have the key on. It is switched on by the AFM when you actually start the car and air begins to flow, moving the flap.

I'm going to look into that today.

However, in reading my manuals about replacing the fuel pump, they all talk about pressure in the fuel line. But when I replaced my fuel filter just recently in trying to figure out an issue with what turned out to be the cold start valve, it seemed as though there was no pressure in the line at all.

So...with my car at over 225k miles on it, and at least one fuel pump replaced, I'm thinking I should replace it anyway and will pick up some high-temp silicone to reseal that AFM after I crack it open.
