Re: More progress
Beer or weed and home mechanics dont always work out well together...a friend when rebuilding his carb was looking down a passage as he sprayed carb cleaner into another passageway....guess who he called to take him to the hospital

Re: More progress
Yikes, glad you're OK. I usually stuff some rags in there when blowing out the pistions.
I once got my hand pinched with an air rachet, I couldn't get my hand off of the trigger. Good thing it wasn't a "good" one or I might still be there.

Second the rag idea or block of wood. Didn't have an air compressor to do mine but a tire inflator worked as well.

Re: More progress
I used a winter glove on the third attempt. My hands aren't going in there no more.
Now it's like I took a hammer to the nail. Still feels crushed but without the pain. I have the brakes done and painted. Now I can finish the rear and put the tires on.

Re: More progress
Here is a pic of the brakes and front end assembly. I still have to tighten the bolts and bend over the tabs.
I used Eastwoods red caliper paint. They are red but look orange in the pic. I left the old bleeder screws in so paint wouldn't get into the holes.
Here is a before pic.

Re: More progress
I have the rear wheels on and of course the brakes done there. I had a hell of a time with the fuel line but it's done too.
Re: More progress
I put the fuel pump on the bottom and made a stainless cover to protect it from debris.
Re: More progress
Putting the fuel hose on was fun. If you haven't done one. Loosen up the fill assembly. You have to put the hose on the top first. Find the angle for the bottom and tape the top for a reference so when you move it upward to tighten the hose clamp for the top, you know you still have the right angle for the bottom. I cut about 3/4" off the bottom. I put the bottom hose on and tightened the clamp. Don't forget to put the clamps on before putting the hose on. Then I put on the stainless fuel hose cover to protect the hose.

Re: More progress
What year is the engine, Brady? Did you go through it at all? I'm not sure If I've seen you mention it getting a rebuild.
I suppose I got lucky, mine's a '74, and the alternator was on the passenger side, lol.
