Bosch injection coolant gasket

Post by leftfield6 »

No idea if that's what this part is really called, but it's my best shot at it. Take a look at this linked picture. Towards the top, right next to where the "T" in "FIAT is, you will see a little black metal cover with two small diameter rubber hoses going to it.

See what I'm talking about? Now, in this pic, it's a black color. This is not my picture. :( Mine was a less uniform rust color. So I decide, what the heck, while I'm waiting on other parts to arrive in my rebuild, I'm going to take that off, sand it down and repaint it.

Problem is the paper gasket underneath crumbled into pieces when I removed it.

So, is this a candidate for some "instant gasket" RTV, or do I really need a gasket? If I need one, does anyone sell this part, or am I getting out my X-acto kiofe and some gasket stock?

That's the "Throttle Plate Heater".
The dealers may tell you that you cannot buy parts for the Bosch Injection system, but you just got to know where else to look.

Fiat just 'bought in' the injection system from Bosch and they sold the same system to, and you will find it on Saabs (900, 9000, others?) BMW (318, 320 +?) VW (jetta, golf, passat & santana ?) ford escort and recently I saw it on a Citroen. Not all components are the same, but some are common to others. Fiat air filter box & air flap meter is as VW& BMW, Throttle plate switch is as Saab, BMW & I saw Citroen 2 weeks back, fuel rail fittings/return valve & cold start are as BMW.
You need to find a wrecker's yard with European cars & go looking. Take a drawing and measurements of yours and a ruler and find which car has the same matching part.
I could not buy an air filter element for a Fiat, so bought a VW quite cheap as they still made VWs using that item 10 years later than fiat.

The injectors themselves fit a HUGE range of cars (even rangerover V8) as it is the ECU controlling them that makes the difference
