Still having trouble getting the new carb to operate properly. I have plugged all vac lines and eliminated the air towers in the top of the head. The car starts right up and seeks to idle at 4500-5000 rpm. If I give it gas it will still accelerate, but with the linkage disconnected it still wants to idle real high, so I don't think it's a linkage issue. I have messed around with the idle and mixture screws but they don't seem to affect anything. With the mixture screw all the way in the car will still start and bring itself up to about 5000rpm idle, and the idle speed adjustment screw doesn't seem to affect anything either. I'm wondering if this is maybe a jet problem, but the screws don't seem to affect anything. Please help!
Resolved! Found a bind within the linkage at the base of the carb! Running smooth now...

Re: Carb issues?
your choke is even partily closed
it will hold your idle
set it open all the way then tune your carb
then set choke
it will hold your idle
set it open all the way then tune your carb
then set choke
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

Re: Carb issues?
Tried with choke disconnected and with flaps held open but with no differences, I'm at a loss, thinking maybe something is binding and holding the secondary open or something? Just found that the linkage was binding slightly with the metal choke arm that connects the choke to the throttle linkage. It was preventing maybe a 1/4inch of counterclockwise movement back to the stop. Would this be enough to affect whats going on, maybe messing up the choke position?
