Oil in Exhaust?

Post by donerehart »

Here's a strange one. I had my car engine completely rebuilt after a nightmare purchase...long story. It is running great and has since I got it back in February. I noticed that the rear muffler has a small leak on the bottom portion along a seam and there is oil coming out. Is it possible that the oil is from the previous engine that was a complete mess and is being pushed out the muffler now? Is it possible that it is from a great running engine that has no oil leaks at all - even around the manifold? I have checked threads on this site and can't find any reference to this one... Is it possible that it's not oil, just condensation and soot?

Yes, oil would smoke horribly.
