Understand what you are saying Keith...will wait for Mark's response...none of it is hooked up now and I'm just trying to piece this all back together...

that is the way Fiat designed it
Re: Vapor Canister Question - UPDATE WITH PIC - HELP
Mark certainly knows Fiat better than I. But ALL cars have some feature to keep from sucking fumes from the tank and the bowl while the engine is running. A brief look at a fiat diagram show what is called a "3 way valve" in the vent line from the tank to the canister, would be interesting to see just how that valve functions, I would wager it is some sort of shutoff for the vent line.
I'll try to dig up a better diagram and see if I can comprehend how the system works, but assuming everything is still there except the bowl vent line, and it is a factory canister, I would hook it up as it was from the factory, which is as Mark says

Donerheart, the picture you show on the previous page is not a vapor canister, rather an early version of an electrovalve. That is most likely the electrovalve for the fast idle system. The vapor canister is larger, made of black plastic and more near the front of the car.

Keith (and Matt),
The picture I posted was what I thought was the valve you were talking about that would only allow fumes to go one way...that is why I was trying to figure out which was intake and which was out nozzle... It sounds like I don't need to worry about it at all...

I couldn't tell what that pic was
Re: Vapor Canister Question - UPDATE WITH PIC - HELP
Does anyone have a picture of how the vacuum line from the top of the canister is hooked up with an Empi or Weber DFEV 32/36? The mechanic that installed my 32/36 just left it dangling. Car runs great but I would like to hook it up properly.
Re: Vapor Canister Question - UPDATE WITH PIC - HELP
there is a vacuum port on the carb just next to the idle mixture screw. You can hook it up there or tee it if he is already using the port for another hose
Re: Vapor Canister Question - UPDATE WITH PIC - HELP
I was wondering about the same thing. Mark, do you mean the carb port where the dizzy advance goes? Its ok to tie it in with that line? Thanks. So Cal Mark wrote:there is a vacuum port on the carb just next to the idle mixture screw. You can hook it up there or tee it if he is already using the port for another hose
