Anyone know what sensor this is and what it does? The sensor is attached to the bottom of the carb's manifold. While changing the oil I noticed two loose wires then saw this sensor with its tabs completely bent over. I of course have straightened the tabs and reconnected the wires, but haven't started the car since I'm waiting on an oil filter. Since it's been disconnected I'm wondering what have I been missing all this time...
What sensor is this?

Re: What sensor is this?
the speedup assembly switch or something like that
mine has the smog stuff off and the speedup control diapham is SHOT
so it dose nothing anymore on my car
the speedup assy controls a low idle and higher idle as per witch gear your in 1st/2nd--3rd/4th
because when your giving it alot and pull your foot up you dont always want a super low idle.
opps i guess im wrong

Re: What sensor is this?
Its the ignition mode relay thermo switch that changes from the starting set of points to the running set of points. It's a switch very similar in construction to the fan switch located in the rad. At a certain temp it completes or breaks the circuit. If you switched to single points or electronic ignition you don't need it, but don't remove it as it plugs a water galley in the manifold.
The fast idle system has a switch located at the clutch pedal, one at the trans, a test button on the drivers side fender, and a electro valve also on the DS fender.

Thanks Matt, the single point makes sense. When I got the car it was changed over from dual to single points which is probably the reason the sensor tabs were bent over and the wires somewhat hidden. Guess i'll go disconnect it and tape the wires up. Thanks everyone for your input! Steven
