So I have been searching for an FI fuel tank since I am coverting my '79 to FI. I was told that I have to change fuel tanks - then I am told I don't.....I thought it was simple - carb tanks are one way - FI tanks are two way since fuel is under pressure and needs a return line.
Can someone please clear this up for me? I'd rather keep my current tank - it is very clearn. But I have been chasing an FI tank.....'
Help!!
Thank you

Re: FI Fuel tank question
You can keep your tank. The emissions stuff might be different and the line from the tank to the engine might be a different size but the FI pump on the stock car is an out of tank, inline pump. So maybe you have to upgrade the fuel line to a high pressure one after the pump.

Re: FI Fuel tank question
I dont really know, maybe they come with the sender and emissions hoses? maybe there are a few more/less connections to the tank? I am driving a carbed spider with the FI tank, I looked at my two spiders (74 and 81) and could not see a meaningful difference between the two so I just plumbed the FI tank to work with the carb, same should be easily possible with your carbed tank good luck, If you need any parts I may have them.
