Cat heatshield removal

Hi fellow Spider owners, have any of you ever removed the Cat heat shield? I found the bolt in the front and back of the shield but do all those rivets need to be drilled out? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, need to repair some rust. Thanks!

if you want to cook your passenger's tushy, go right ahead. that heat shield is there for a reason.

Yes drill out the rivets and just rivet it back on when your done with removing the rust.

Or, don't put the shield or the cat back on when you are done...

It will go back because I still have to smog a 32 year old car here in SoCal. Just wanted to make sure on the rivets before drilling them all out, thanks for the info.
