Slight Stumble

Post by jfrawley »

1982 FI Spider. This issue is very hard to explain and really not that serious, just very annoying. First let me say all the FI diagnostics have been run through and all systems checked out 100% set up and working as they should be. No problem during any acceleration or complete throttle off, but the issue is in between. It's happening with just a little pressure on the gas peddle. When your just trying to maintain a constant speed. It's like the throttle position sensor has a dead spot on it. I swapped the old TPS with another used unit and it does the exact same thing. I went back and re-confirmed that it is adjusted as the manual calls for. I know most rheostats will develop flat spots after a lot of use and I wonder if that's what happening here. Any other suggestions welcome.

the Spider tps is not a rheostat, it's an on-off-on switch. The AFM on the other hand does contain a rheostat on the flap

Oh, you learn something new every day with these cars. I guess I was looking in the wrong spot. I'll keep digging.
