FIrst one is done. If I would do it again. I would definitely do it from a mold. Then you wouldn't have any debris and they would be crisper. Still they look good.

I just sat and read this rebuild from Start to finish, it really gives me the inspiration to finally put a bit of effort into starting the restoration of my '69!

Great looking car, I cant praise it high enough, I wish you were closer so I could see it in person!

You're not planning on driving that thing when you get it finished, are you? After all that, I'd keep it in a glass display case in the living room.

I'm going to wear it out! Make sure when you do your welds to weld the entire seam. If not, you'll see the spots where the body filler is after it shrinks and it will shrink.

I got all of the yard work done and I finally bought my tires. Just have to wait for them to arrive.

I also cleaned up the steering box and idler arm. Just have to figure out what to do next.

Finally got the tail lights installed permanently. I lost the rubber seal for the other reverse light. It has to be somewhere.

Brady,
I can't wait to see the finished product. I bet if you take 2 or 3 weeks off work and concentrate on the Spider full time you can make FFO this year  . I really want to see all of your great work in person!

Thanks guys,
I'm working on organizing everything so I know where everything is. I found all the missing bolts and things. I have to clean them up now. I'm going to start putting the suspension on soon. Things should start moving. I have a lot going on too. I hope to make molds of the hood liner, front spoiler, and bumperettes this week. I decided to use my bumperettes to make molds so they are done right. There are so many imperfections within the resin on them. Well, not really. I'm just anal. :?

so, this made me think of something I've always struggled with, and maybe I can get some hints?
Every time I've put together a really quality project, the hardware has become an issue. I mean the nuts-n-bolts.... etc. Assembling a nice fresh motor (or anything else) with grungy hardware sucks. It detracts from the finished product. And yet the cleaning of each little screw and nut and bolt and pin and (you get the idea) is so TEDIOUS! And then I put my socket on it, which has 12 years of built-up grime down in the well anyway, transdferring immediately to the freshly-cleaned (sometimes painted) surface.... :|
With motorcycles, it was a no-brainer to replace all the bolts. But there's just too many on a car.

WHAT"S YOUR SECRET?
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
