all good news so far. You might consider a new fuel filter while you're making improvements

Well, I traced it to the coil. Problem is, no one locally has a suitable coil that will work right. I purchased an Accel 8140 coil, and it works, but it has the wrong resistance. It works great for a couple hours then the the problem of the car stalling come back. I touched the coil, and it is so hot I cannot touch it. So, where do I find the proper coil?

You can use a 1980 "131 Brava" or "124 Spider" coil per Hollander parts interchange.(My manual only goes to 1980, so other later years may work.)

Dave, if you have a 1980 I'm guessing you have the electronic ignition. The Accel 8140 is a points coil.

The correct coil for an electronic breakerless system is Accel coil #8145 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACC-8145/

Coils for electronic ignitions have a lower primary resistance measurement than coils used for points.

It stalls with the accel coil too? Then it is probably NOT the coil. What do you feel is wrong with the coil that was on the car??

Matt,
It is a 1980. The coil is an Accel 8140, which is for the points. My bad.
I need to find the 8145 coil.

UPDATE:
I found a Marelli coil and installed it. Stalling is gone. Thanks for all the help.

If you are still getting some stalling, check your battery and charging system. I've had a loose alternator belt cause stalling, I imagine because a FI system needs a decent current. Check the belt, then charge up the battery and take it through the paces. If stalling is gone (at least temporarily) then that was the problem.
