Oil Pressure Gauge ??

Post by kristofour »

1977 Fiat 124 with the 1800CC motor:

Oil pressure gauge hits zero after running for about 20 mins. Car runs great so I like to think its not the main bearing, but any thoughts? Oil pressure sending unit? maybe the gauge itself? Thanks for any help or insight!

the gauges typically read low, but I'd have some concern about zero. It would be best to use a mechanical test gauge to get an accurate reading just for peace of mind. Is it zero at idle or speed? If it shows zero all of the time, I'd stop running it until you can verify the pressure

mine hits close to 0 at idle when warm and apx. 20 at speed when warm, but the lt. never comes on. I've seen others like it and understand that it's a common trait. I've been told that the guages are flakey and to trust the lt. I would like to correct the problem if possible. I think I'll try the sender and/or guage from my parts car and see if it makes a difference.
