Oil drain plug removal, what tool?

Does anyone know the correct size tool for removing the oil drain plug? I want to change oil but the plug looks like a hex head wrench is what fits it. I will need to go buy one but need to know the correct size. Thanks!

Now, where do you find the wrench? I can only find up to 10mm at the local parts stores.

One of the smaller sizes (I forget which) is used on the convertible top frame. Another (also drawing a blank) for the tranny fill; I think maybe rear diff, too. No, these are not of a quality that you would want to use everyday as a mechanic. But for most of us weekend wrenchers, they work OK. In nearly every case, a cheap tool that fits is better than a great pair of Vise-Grips or Channel-Locks.

Harbor Freight also sells a three bit metric socket for about $4 that has a 12mm.

You should do like I did don't buy a wrench put a pair of vise grips on it and you should be able to remove it then throw it in the nearest garbage can and order a magnetic drain plug from I.a.p. for $5 then you can use a 17mm socket or wrench which is much handier. (May want to order replacement first)
