Hello at all,
In my 124 FI I can hear some noise of air coming out from the pedal when I brake.
Furthermore the efficency of the brake is not like before... in the sense that the pedal goes "longer".
I am asking if the problem could be the brake booster and what are your suggestions in order to solve this "strange" problem.
Regards,
Marco
Air from the brake booster?

Re: Air from the brake booster?
If your pedal effort is higher than before, and you're hearing air noises from the booster, it should be replaced. "In theory" they can be repaired, but you're better off with a salvage unit. I don't know anybody who's successfully repaired one.
Before you do this, however, check the hose that runs from the intake manifold to the booster. This vacuum line is what powers your power brakes. Insure that it is not leaking and the cause of your problem. Another "tell" of a bad booster is stalling or rough idle when the brake is being depressed (vacuum leak).
