Hood Locks

Post by BrianAz »

Hi,
A friend of mine bought a 72 Spider in parts. He is nearly finish a major restoration of the vehicle but has a probelm with the hood lock. It will not engage the hood and should sit a lot higher than it does. It is very possible that it is not the correct part. Does anyone know whether the design of the hood lock has changed over the years?? Anyone got a hood lock for a 72 Spider??
Thanks,
Brian.

The latch mechanism on the hood is adjustable up and down. If you look at the latch, its held onto the car by two 10mm nuts attached to studs coming out of the body. The holes the studs come through are slotted and you can loosen the nuts and move the latch up and down to make the hood catch more easily.

I'm putting a 71 flat hood on an 80. the hood inner structure is different on both hoods and so is the latch hook. there is a big difference in height. havent got all the details worked out yet as i have both an early and late model latch.
