Just replacing the carb and leaving the manifold alone will give a big boost to power. Of course, the manifold will make the new carb work even better.

The Weber 32/36 DFEV does wonders for the '79 spider, more wonders on a better intake manafold. And is a relatively simple bolt on. The electric choke works very well on chilly mornings and the wire is already right there. The more engine mods you make to the "79 spider the better it gets.
