So I recently swapped my 32adfa out for a 34dmsa, when i did so, the car began having a rough idle(the 32adfa was very smooth running). I figured hey, its a used carb, it needs to be rebuilt, so i tore it down and cleaned it to the best of my abilities and reassembled it with fresh gaskets, accel pump, etc. But my rough idle is still lingering and it may even be a little worse than before. I've tried messing with both the mixture&speed screws to try and get it to even out and i've adjusted the timing but nothing I do seems to be of any help. In fact i would almost be inclined to say its "missing" by the way it sounds, but i'm getting spark at all four cylinders so I'm not sure why it would miss. I also don't think it was smoking out the rear end before this although i dont often see my car from behind when its running so I'm not 100% certain on that.
Some background on the car, its a 78, fully stock except for an electronic distributor with the vacuum advance removed. I have most if not all of the emissions systems removed/plugged off on the engine and the only hose attached to the carb besides fuel is the one hose for the fast idle solenoid. All others are capped.
I'm wondering if maybe the idle system in the carb is seriously gummed up and i didn't get it cleaned well enough? thats the only thing i can think of that would cause this other than some other engine system failing with impeccable timing.
Any thoughts, ideas?
Thanks

Since the problem started when you installed the new carb, that's where I would look for it. You say it ran fine with the old carb? If you reinstall it and the problem goes away, that will tell you where the problem is. A small amount of dirt, gum, varnish can make all the difference. I am assuming the jetting, etc is correct. Cleaning again might not hurt, and be sure to blow all of the passages out with air and confirm they are clear.

Before i go through the chore of changing the carb back to the adfa(i have to change the moutning studs as well as hook up the water choke again), let me post up the jets currently in the carb and see if they sound right,
PRIMARY: SECONDARY:
idle:60 idle:50
main:140 main:145
air corrector:165 air corrector:155
emulsion: f7 emulsion: f7
I have no idea what should be in the carb, since it isnt stock for this year. Although it was run on an 1800cc in 74 when it was stock for the car so i don't see why it wouldn't be
I blew through the passages best i could when i rebuilt it with one of those cans you can buy, since i don't have a compressor to use.

Dude,
Swap the idle jets, 50 in the primary and 60 in the secondary. 50 is about right for a stock spider

Idle jets were the problem, switched and it runs like a top
